Cork Visitor Information Guide
The webmaster's first view of Ireland, descending through
the clouds on approach to Cork Airport on flight from Paris.
The next Clan Rally will be held on 20-22 July 2012 in Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland. The purpose of this page is to provide information that will help you with planning your time in Ireland, including where to stay, how to get there, and what to see and do while you're there. The links I've given here are set to take you to the information for County Cork (which, of course, is where the Rally will be held) but if you're planning to visit other parts of Ireland during your stay most of these websites have links for other counties too.
Travel
The best airports to fly into are Cork (via London where there are no direct flights to Cork) and Shannon. See information for Cork Airport and Shannon Airport or Dublin Airport. Follow links for car hire, taxis, rail and bus or coach. See other information in Tourist Links further down the page.
Map of Newmarket
Map of Newmarket area. Use your mouse or the directional arrows in top=left corner to move the map around. If you lose your place while moving the map use your browser's refresh button (or press f5 key) to return it to Newmarket.
Other maps can be found at the Go Ireland site. The link provided here (see button at right) takes you to their Cork County page and map. You can use their drop-down box to bring up information and maps for many locations in the county. Their site also has information on accommodation and dining. Use your browser's back button to return to this page.
Accommodation
The following is a list of accommodation facilities within a reasonable radius of Newmarket. It must be appreciated that Newmarket is a small town so there is not a lot of accommodation offered in the immediate area. More accommodation is available in the wider area. Roads are generally good so accommodation that is a few miles away should not be a problem. This list is by no means complete and will be added to as information becomes available and time permits. If you know of good accommodation that is not listed here I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. In listing accommodation facilities no particular recommendation can be made.
Hotels
There are no hotels in Newmarket/Duhallow. The nearest main town to Newmarket is Mallow (pop. 9495). It is about a half-hour drive from there to Newmarket. Hotels in Mallow and smaller centres within a reasonable radius of Newmarket include:
